3 hours A study of operation, management and legal issues affecting corrections. Analysis of constitutional issues involving rights of the convicted, as well as civil liability of correctional agencies and staff. The student will assess current case, statutory and constitutional law applicable to the correctional setting including clients, inmates and staff; explain and describe the various types and classifi cations of correctional populations; and explain consequences of civil and criminal liabilities. (SCANS 1, 2, 7, 9, 10, 11) Prerequisite: None.
