3 hours A course in the unique aspects of managing a small business. Topics address management functions including how managers plan, exercise leadership, organize, and control the operations. The student will discuss the unique aspects of managing a small business; explain the importance of developing employees to enhance business profits; describe the employment process; explain the elements of total quality management programs; compare purchasing procedures and inventory control in two small businesses; and compare computerized operations of two small businesses. Lab fee required. (SCANS 2, 6, 7, 9) Prerequisite: None.
