3 hours Examination of building codes and requirements, construction types, and building materials. Topics include walls, fl oorings, foundations, and various roof types and the associated dangers of each. The student will explain model building codes; discuss National Fire Protection Association 101 (NFPA 101); and compare and contrast construction types. (SCANS 6, 8, 9) Prerequisite: None.
