Third of a three-quarter sequence designed for science and engineering majors. Applications of the scientific method by correlating theory with experimental observation. Topics include ionic equilibria, thermodynamics, nuclear chemistry, electrochemistry, transition metal chemistry, and applications of all chemical concepts to the elements on the periodic table. CHEM& 153 replaces CHEM 133 (beginning in Spring 2009). Formerly CHEM 133. Credit not allowed for both CHEM 133 and CHEM& 143. Concurrent enrollment in CHEM& 153 is recommended. Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or better inCHEM& 142 and CHEM& 152.
