Second of a 3-quarter laboratory sequence designed for science and engineering majors, or students seeking a career in the health professions. Focus on organic laboratory techniques, spectrosopic characterization of molecules, and introduction to synthetic techniques, including multi-step syntheses and handling moistureor air-sensitive compounds. CHEM& 242 and CHEM& 252 replace CHEM 212 (beginning in Winter 2009). Concurrent enrollment in CHEM& 242, or consent of Instructional Unit. Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or better in CHEM& 241 andCHEM& 251, or consent of Instructional Unit.
