Offered cooperatively with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.] An examination of the enormous varieties of peoples and cultures found in the Middle East. This course examines the basic structure of historical and contemporary societies and cultures of the Middle East and North Africa, with a special emphasis on Egypt. Social organization, law, family, tribe, gender, rural-urban migration, education and social change are among the areas of inquiry in this course. Special attention is given to Christian ethnic groups throughout the Middle East.
