A survey of concepts and principles in chemistry and geology. This course serves the needs of non-science majors who are required to complete one or more physical science courses. Topics to be discussed include atomic structure; elements and the periodic table; compounds and chemical formulas; chemical reactions and equations; water and solutions; organic chemistry; rocks and minerals; the Earth's interior and surface; and the atmosphere of the Earth. Prerequisite: SAT MATH score of 480/ACT MATH score of 20, or two years of high school algebra, or permission of instructor.
