An introductory inorganic chemistry. Topics examined and discussed include elements, atoms, ions, and the periodic table; electronic structure of the atom; the concept of electonegativity, chemical bonding, and molecular structure; the concept of mole and stoichiometry; principles and types of chemical reactions; and acids and bases. Prerequisites: concurrent enrollment in SCIE 1201 College Chemistry I Laboratory; and SAT math score of 480 or higher, or two years of high school algebra or equivalent, or MATH 1003 Intermediate Algebra or higher, or permission of instructor.
