Introduction to the profession of nursing including the roles of the registered nurse with emphasis on health promotion and primary disease prevention across the life span; essential components of the nursing health assessment; identification of deviations from expected health patterns; the application of a systematic, problem-solving process to provide basic nursing care to diverse clients across the life span; and applicable competencies in knowledge, judgment, skills, and professional values within a legal/ ethical framework. Nursing process is the systematic, problem-solving process utilized. Prerequisites: Admission to the Professional Nursing Program; CHEM 1405 or CHEM 1411 or BIOL 1408 or VNSG 1420; POFM 1202 or COSC 1301, PSYC 2301 with a grade of C or better. Corequisite: RNSG 1462. Semester Hours 5 (4 lec/2 lab)
