A study of the child in relation to the family, school and community. Topics include parent education and participation in the learning process, family and community lifestyles, child abuse, and contemporary family issues. This course includes a minimum of 15 contact hours of field experience with children, infancy through age 12, in varied settings with diverse populations. The course aligns with the State Board for Educators Certification Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities standards. Lecture Hrs = 3, Lab Hrs = 2, Insurance Fee Prerequisite: READ 301 or equivalent
