Introduction to basic concepts of vector GIS using several industry specific software programs including nomenclature of cartography and geography. By the end of the course, students will have sufficient background so that with on-the-job experience they can become expert users of GIS in organizations - building, managing, and using GIS maps and data. Lab required. Prerequisite: BCIS 1305 or COSC 1300 or consent of Instructor or Department Chair. 3 credit hours. ( W)
