Emphasis on developing non-native speakers' intermediate listening and speaking skills to facilitate natural communication. Oral skills are developed through individual presentations and interactions in dyads, and in small and large groups. Aural skills are developed through classroom interaction, outside assignments, and video and audio clips designed to enhance nonnative speakers' skills in understanding both formal and informal speech styles of English. Focus is given to students' spoken grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, and exposure to North American culture. 3 credit hours. Note: May not be used to satisfy the requirement for an associate degree. Developmental courses may be taken for a combined total of no more than 27 credit hours.
