An introduction to the special student populations found in PK-12 schools. The course will provide an overview of schooling and classrooms from the perspectives of language, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnic and academic diversity and equity with an emphasis on factors that facilitate learning. Sixteen hours of field-based work with special populations in a PK-12 school is required. Lab required. 3 credit hours.
