This course is designed to give the student some of the background needed to pursue more advanced courses that use statistical techniques. The content of the course will include topics from probability theory that are necessary for an understanding of the mathematical foundations of statistics. These topics will include: probability distributions, likelihood functions, properties of expectation operators, moment-generating functions, the central-limit theorem, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. The student will be expected to be familiar with the topics of calculus through multiple integrals. Prerequisite: MATH-321
