This course will provide an overview of the history, evolution and major components of U.S. health care systems. Systems theory will form the basis for this course. Topics covered will include the organization of health care services, the hospital, the physician, supply and demand in health care, thirdparty payers, the role of government, managed care and comparisons of health care systems in other countries.
