Institution:
Pfeiffer University
Subject:
Description:
An orientation to the history and practices of Christian prayer forms as they may be applied for personal and parish renewal. This course will explore the relationship of prayer to other disciplines such as worship, prophetic witness, hospitable service, processes of discernment and spiritual healing. If faith is not practiced, what does one have to offer those with whom one lives and works? In the words of Brother Lawrence, this course offers time to "Practice the Presence" and helpful resources for personal and parish spiritual renewal. The spiritual disciplines, guided mediation, the arts, readings, writing, prayer and practice will directly enrich the spiritual lives of the participants and those with whom they work.
