This course acquaints students with the nature of sport as a reflector and transmitter of values as well as a number of issues raised by the nature of sports in our society. Topics include: sport as a business; attitudinal components of sport participation; sport and the mass media; deviant behavior in sport; violence in sport; women in sport; and the black athlete.
