Focus on writing effective research essays analyzing international films. Emphasis on the composition process and the development of writing skills and evaluation sources, including prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and documenting. Introduction to film terminology and techniques and the major approaches used in writing essays about films, including film history, national cinemas, genres, auteurism, and formalism, and ideological studies. ENGL 108 partially fulfills the Communication requirement of the AA-Option B degree. Prerequisite: A grade of "C" or better in ENGL& 101 (or ENGL 101). Formerly ENGL115. Credit not allowed for both ENGL 115 and ENGL 108.
