Instruction on the structure, conventions, rules, and guidelines pertaining to CPT/HCPCS coding. The course will include practice in the use of the coding systems to give the student knowledge and experience to be able to code confidently in physician practices and ambulatory care facilities. Descriptions of Coding as a part of the medical reimbursement process and related legal and ethical issues will be included. Prerequisite: Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in, BIOL 164 (or BIOL 160) or HEOC 100 and BTEC 110 or consent of Instructional Unit. [GE]
