Description: This class is a survey of popular synthesis techniques used to create electronic sounds and music. With a "hands on" approach to both analog and digital implementations of these techniques students will gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of electronic sound generation and related measurements, all from an engineering perspective. Some of the theories and techniques covered will be: FM synthesis, AM synthesis, Physical modeling, Granular synthesis, wave-shaping, additive synthesis, Analysis-based Resynthesis, and more. 3.00credit(s) Restrictions: Must be enrolled in one of the following Levels: Graduate Engineering Prerequisites: Undergraduate level ECE 3220 Minimum Grade of D- or Graduate Engineering level ECE 8240 Minimum Grade of C
