Pathophysiology and pharmacology as it correlates to disease processes in order to enhance the overall assessment and management skills of the paramedic. Includes: alterations in body fluids, acid-base balance, shock, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, and cellular metabolism impairment. Also addresses the body s self-defense mechanisms, the inflammatory response, variances in immunity stress and disease. In order for the course to be transcripted, the student must submit documentation of the following: (1) successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited Paramedic Program, (2) official notification of a passing score on the National Paramedics exam, and (3) an official Clark College Transcript documenting completion of a minimum of 30 hours of degree-relevant coursework.
