An historical, hermeneutical, and theological examination of the Historical Books of the Old Testament including the Former Prophets, (Joshua, Judges, Samuel, and Kings) as well as the post-exilic historical writings (the work of the Chronicler, Ezra-Nehemiah and Esther). Particular attention will be given to issues of Hebrew historiography, its development, and literary techniques. Class 3. Prerequisites: BIBL 1033 and BIBL 1043. (Spring)
