This course is designed as a research seminar with an emphasis on readings, small group discussion, short analytical papers, and the development and presentation of a major research project. Special importance will be placed on the proper use of historical methods and consideration of historiographical questions in the preparation of student research projects. The theme of each seminar will vary and may focus on topics as varied as American or European Intellectual History, international relations, and social history. Class 3.
