A course designed to introduce students to the challenges and difficulties experienced by Muslims seeking to relate to and participate in the modern world. Questions of Quranic interpretation and contextualization are explored. Receiving special emphasis are the ways in which Muslims in different societies have interacted politically and intellectually with the changes inaugurated by an ascendant West. This MESP course is only offered through the Middle East Studies Program of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities. Class 4.
