Designed specifi cally for education majors for grades EC-4 and 4-8, this fi eld-based course will give the student the knowledge and skills needed for planning, organizing and effectively delivering instruction based upon the Social Studies TEKS. Social studies content areas emphasized are history, geography, economics, government, citizenship and culture. Students are to develop an understanding of the social and environmental consequences of scientifi c discovery and technological innovation. Students are expected to design and participate in learning activities both in the fi eld and in the UMHB classroom.
