An introduction to the cell behavior and molecular pathways that control embryonic development. Several representative organisms, invertebrate and vertebrate, will be utilized along with an introduction to recent advances and techniques in developmental biology. Those techniques will be applied in the laboratory to study such organisms as planarians, sea urchins, and chickens. Prerequisites: BIOL 3310. BIOL 4410 recommended. Laboratory fee. Spring only.
