This course in an introduction to the art and discipline of musical composition. Emphasis is given to the creative processes through original works written for the smaller musical genres. The student is expected to compose several works through the course of the semester with attention being given to melodic and harmonic structures, formal organization, and appropriate instrumentation. Prerequisite: MUSI 1331.
