Description: Introduction to performance art, a highly diverse theatrical art form that has gained popularity in American and European performance since the 1960s. Analysis of well-known performance artists as well as creation and performance of original student pieces. Emphasis on relationships among language, visual arts, music and dance; the construction and expression of self and identity through performance; and the relationship of performance to rhetoric and social change.
