(Formerly ASTRO-105) Introduces basic concepts in astronomy including the formation of the solar system; characteristics of the planets, moons, asteroids, and comets; the formation and evolution of stars; the nature and characteristics of light and telescopes; and notes the historical milestones of astronomy from ancient astronomers to current space probes. Laboratory included. Prerequisite(s): Completion of ENGL-095 and READ-095 with a grade of "C" or higher; completion of MATH-090 with a "C-" or higher; or equivalent assessment in these areas.
