This course is for persons who have already completed a degree program. The course includes content that is required for certification as a Chemical Dependency Professional. Introduction to the physiological, psychological and socio-cultural apsects of alcohol and drug related problems. The course also provides an overview of the pharmacology of alcohol and other psycho-active drugs including an explanation of how brain chemistry changes result in compulsive use. The impact of historical developments such as the "war on drugs" is also discussed.
