Prereq: any of the following: Soc 221, 251, 255, 260, 268, Estu 202. Uses sociological concepts to analyze human-environmental interactions. Topics include humans as part of the ecosystem, natural resource dependent communities, population growth and environmental quality, the environmental and anti-environmental movements, limits to growth and energy use, garbage and other wastes, sustainable development and economic growth, sociological and economic perspectives on alternative environmental futures.
