A detailed study of the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of patients with cardiac emergencies. At the completion of this module, the student will be able to integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression, and implement a treatment plan for the cardiac patient. Prerequisite: Appropriate scores on the reading, writing, and math portions of the THEA Test or alternate test OR completion of the math, reading, and writing developmental course sequences; acceptance into Paramedic Program and successful completion of first semester of paramedic program coursework. Co-Enrollment: EMSP 2434, EMSP 2330, EMSP 2338, EMSP 2261. A score of 270 or higher on the MATH portion of THEA, 230 or higher on the Reading portion of THEA, and a 6 on the Writing portion of THEA, or completion of the appropriate remediation sequence of courses. Credit: Four semester hours.
