Instruction and practice in the fundamentals of writing plays to be performed for the theater. Classroom work is a mix of reading contemporary plays and writing exercises to become acquainted with the principles of playwriting. Coursework culminates in writing a full one-act play and doing a staged reading for an audience. Prerequisite: ENGL 198 or permission of the instructor.
