An examination of both the historical development of teaching and schooling in the United States and the major ideas infl uencing teachers today. A consideration of current topics in education, including issues involving race and ethnicity (bilingual education, multicultural education). Includes an examination of personal educational philosophy in relation to experiences in the fi eld as well as ideas encountered in the course.
