Prerequisites: AGEQ2305; AGAH1443, AGEQ2311 32 lecture hours + 64 laboratory hours........................ 4 credit hours Reproductive anatomy, physiological functions, and common management practices related to equine reproductive facilities. Lecture portion of this course is conducted in the first 6 weeks of the semester with emphasis on anatomy and physiology of the mare and stallion as it relates to management for maximum reproductive efficiency. Basic principles of artificial insemination,embryonic development, parturition, and care of the pregnant mare and newborn will be discussed. Semen collection, evaluation, and shipping will also be discussed. The lab portion is the remainder of the semester, and consists of students working on well respected breeding farms in the area.
