This survey is designed to familiarize students with the important works, principal authors, literary genres, and theoretical considerations involved in the study of children's literature through a survey of the history and development of literature written for children. The focus of the course will be centered on textual analysis, rather than on pedagogical concerns. Papers are required. Prerequisites: ENGL 1301 and 1302. Three class hours per week. Credit: Three semester hours. Does not satisfy literature requirement for Associate in Arts degree.
