(Fall or Spring, Course Offered Every Year) This course looks at the importance of religious thought in world cinema. It will consider a wide variety of films - from independent to mainstream Hollywood blockbusters - and will provide students with background knowledge of the religious tradition relevant to each film. After introductory readings on film theory, students will critically assess the form and content of films selected from different world cultures. Prerequisite: one 100-level Religion course, or by permission of the instructor.
