(Spring, Odd-Numbered Years Only) The course will guide the student through the cultural exploration of the development of modern theatre, contemporary dramatic literature, modern dramatic theory, the principles of performance, and techniques of production (including costuming, scenic design, and company structure), from 1870 to the present. Western and non-western theatre history will be examined. May be taken without prerequisite courses with instructor'sconsent, Prerequisites: THE-114.
