(Spring, Course Offered Odd Years) This course is designed to provide students with a broad overview of the key feminist theoretical debates of the 20th and 21st century. Using some early works to provide a critical and historical foundation, the course will trace the roots of contemporary American feminism and identify recurrent themes in feminist thought and theory. Using a variety of texts and selected readings, this course will encourage students to sharpen their critical skills, understand and appreciate the diversity of approaches taken by feminist theorists, and apply feminists theories/approaches to a number of issues in their chosen disciplines. Prerequisite: WST 200.
