This course provides an introduction to the theory of crisis intervention with emphasis on short-term interviewing and crisis counseling. Course content covers crisis intervention models, basic interviewing techniques, and assessment strategies. A deeper understanding of abuse, death, and suicide, as well as common losses everyone faces in life are discussed. The CISM and CISD models are introduced. Prerequisites: CSG 203, CSG 213 and CSG 313.
