While leadership and management are not synonymous, leaders nonetheless must at various times perform functions of management. This course then, will address theories of both leadership and management. Theories of leadership attempt to explain either the factors involved in the emergence of leadership or the nature of leadership. Contemporary management theories such as systems and contingency theories attempt to describe how leaders and mangers work with people through activities such as planning, evaluating, supervising, and staffing. Prerequisite: None.
