Topics may include Restoration comedy (Congreve, Wycherley), Augustan satire (Pope, Swift), the revival of classicism (Johnson, Burke), the rise of the novel (Defoe, Richardson, Fielding), and the advent of print culture. Prerequisites: English 200 or FS ENG 201, one of English 201-204.
