Credits: 3; Prereq: GEW 3100 and GEW 3101. Students read some shorter verse narratives dealing with love and chivalric adventures in the original language of the German Middle Ages (ca. 1200). In conjunction with this reading, students will learn some of the basic features of the poetic idiom (Middle High German) as well as some of the issues and problems involved in the production, transmission and editing of medieval manuscripts.
