Students will become familiar with the writings (prose, poetry, critical essays) of significant authors of non-German descent (i.e., Spaniards, Italians, Turks, Iranians) from the 1950s to the present. Besides gaining insights into the lives and thinking of significant ethnic minorities in Germany during this period, students will address the implications of this corpus of literature for German literary history and the question of German identity more generally.
