Fundamental physics concepts will be introduced related to the production and interpretation of sound in musical instruments and the human voice. Specific concepts include forces, kinematics, energy, pressure, simple harmonic motion, fluids, traveling and standing waves, and acoustics. Relationship of physical principles to notes, scales, melody, harmony, rhythm, loudness, pitch, timbre, musical instruments, room acoustics, and recording. (Spring)
