Practical and theoretical survey of graphic design and its historical context: Introduction to the elements and principles of design and the design process through a series of hands-on projects stressing visual literacy, unity of form, and utilizing common tools of the trade, including computers. Offered as the first of the one-year graphic design sequence of ART 173, 174 and 175. Working knowledge of Mac OS and Adobe software is recommended. ART 115 and GRCP 120 helpful but not required.
