If rice is so important to the Asian diet, why is China the greatest producer of wheat? Students investigate how different soils, climates, economic conditions, and cultures determine the dominant crop species of various regions of the world. Some discussions on modern land-use policy and international trade agreements are included. Prerequisites: Field Crops I or Soils. 3 hours Lecture - 3 credits
