Provides an introductory Biology course designed for non-majors who are interested in a conceptual approach to biological topics. Introduces the nature of science, the characteristics and diversity of life, cellular basis of life evolutionary adaptation and classification, cell reproduction and genetics. Promotes discussion of how these topics relate to current issues, such as genetic engineering, biotechnology and problems facing modern society. Prerequisite: READ 0309 (can be taken concurrently) or by placement exam. (3:2). Lab fee.
