Use ofprogramming language to enhance CAD software. This course builds on the topics discussed in the Advanced Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) course (DFTG 2432). The student investigates several programming environments accessible from the CAD software to continue in the creation of a customized CAD environment. Various programming principles are introduced via AutoLISP and the Visual LISP Integrated Development Environment (IDE), including basic math and geometric functions, requesting user input, data typing and type conversions, string and list manipulation, conditional expressions, loops, selection sets, entity and symbol table manipulation, and text fi le input/output. The student progresses through the creation of dialog interfaces using the CAD Programmable Dialog Box facility, ActiveX automation, and the Visual Basic for Application (VBA) environment.
