Language has captivated scholars for the insights it provides into human behavior and interactions. Through language we unite with some, while differentiating from others. Understanding language is crucial to understanding culture. This course provides a survey of the uses of language in anthropology, investigating how people use language to define themselves and the world around them, and how language communicates far more than the content of words.
